Macbeth, a Scottish thane and brave general, becomes obsessed with becoming king after three witches predict it. With his wife's persuasion, he kills King Duncan and takes the throne. However, maintaining power proves difficult as he faces enemies and his conscience haunts him. The witches' visions lead him to believe he is invincible, but ultimately his downfall comes in a way he never anticipated.
